Eulji Mundeok
Rarity:
Epic
Korea | Elegant Demeanor
Infantry |
Garrison |
Attack
✅Good as both primary & secondary commander
✅Gives a bit more punch to infantry
✅Good paired as secondary to general nuke
✅Good F2P Garrison Commander
First Thought
He is a very premier epic infantry commander that you can use on the battlefield. Eulji Mundeok is mainly used for two purposes:
- Full infantry groups on the battlefield
- Garrison
There’s only a couple of epic pairings for infantry that you can bring to the table. Eulji is usually in that conversation because he’s very much geared towards Infantry damage with his unique talent combination, Infantry + Attack.
You want to utilize that when building up his talent trees.
Eulji Mundeok’s Skills
Skill | Type | Description | Upgrades |
![]() Water Attack |
Active | Attacks the target and deals massive damage. Decreases defense of the target for 2 seconds. | Direct Damage Factor:
300 / 375 / 450 / 600 / 750 Defense Reduction: 10% / 15% / 20% / 25% / 30% |
This is where again I think Eulji is kind of a general commander.
Because usually with Infantry, you do not really see too much nuking or skill damage. you usually get reductions and buffs to the attack, defense, coming damage reductions coming, etc.
Eulji Mundeok’s main skill actually has a nuking component with a direct damage factor. That’s gonna be a very important thing to keep in mind when choosing a paring commander for him.
The defense reduction is massive, especially for an epic commander who you’re gonna be firing this skill off fairly regularly with the commander that you’re going to be pairing him up.
Skill | Type | Description | Upgrades |
![]() Cold Welcome |
Passive | Increases garrison defense when this commander is service as a garrison commander. | Defense Bonus:
1% / 2% / 3% / 4% / 5% |
A defense bonus is always great for all Infantry armies. The more Infantry you have in your garrison, the more this will help you.
You want a combination of defense and nuke and that’s actually what Eulji does really well.
Skill | Type | Description | Upgrades |
![]() Battle of Salsu |
Passive | Increases the attack of infantry units and defense of infantry units. | Infantry Attack Bonus:
4% / 5% / 6% / 8% / 10% Infantry Defense Bonus: 4% / 5% / 6% / 8% / 10% |
This is why having Eulji in the battlefield with a full infantry group out on the field will work really well.
This benefits that whole army.
Skill | Type | Description | Upgrades |
![]() Strike Back |
Passive | When attacked, Eulji Mundeok has a 10% chance to increase his own troops’ damage on the next turn. | Damage Bonus:
20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 100% |
This does not impact skill damage. This is strictly just troop damage.
10% chance seems low but it actually fires off 3-4 times every 10 seconds according to my tests.
The cool thing is you can leverage that skill alongside your first skill. Say you’ve done the 1st skill and then this skill triggers right afterward, you’re gonna have 30% defense buff and 100% attack buff at once, that can hurt really bad. If this triggers a lot, you’re gonna be in really good shape on the battlefield against probably stronger army.
For Eulji, being an infantry commander, you want to go up against other Infantry or Cavalry armies, not Archers.
You do not want to take Eulji against Archers, especially a nicely levelled one with a nice YSG or a Herman or El Cid commanding. Those guys are gonna rip you apart one because they directly counter you. Also, Eulji is a free to play Infantry commander so if you’re going up against Legendary commanders, it’s just not gonna be very good.
Skill | Type | Description |
![]() War and Peace |
Expertise | Increases the attack of infantry units by 15% and defense of infantry units by 15%. |
It just brings up the third skill from 10 to 15%. That’s not a huge deal but it does help.
Recommended Eulji Mundeok Talent Trees
PvP Talent Tree

This is a really easy talent build because garrison is only specific to garrison stuff, most of that is not going to apply on the battlefield so you really only have work on Infantry & Attack tree.
I’m not a huge fan of the attack tree because it’s so generic. It also nerfs skill damage, which Eulji actually is good at.
I recommend taking the entire infantry tree, which is all about tanking, health, defense, rage generation. There is a lot to do with the very last one, Elite Soldiers, which gives you more attack, defense, and health. You also have the March Speed Reduction perk and all kinds of goodies that help infantry troops be really successful on the battlefield.
I also do want to give up Unyielding and Armored Joints on the Attack Tree. They are very crucial ones to get.
- Armored Joints perk helps you reduce all of the incoming damage by up to 1.5%. All damage count. That’s really helpful when it comes to infantry because you need to be as tanky as possible.
- Unyielding increases your counter-attack damage. Counterattack damage is very beneficial for infantry because you don’t generally have a lot of nuking damage from your infantry armies. Having that counter-attack damage boost will definitely help.
Garrison Talent Tree for Eulji Mundeok

You’re gonna be having Infantry, Cavalry, Archers and other units inside of your city for defending. Every single perk inside of the Infantry tree is infantry specific so you really do not want to focus on the Infantry path for the Garrison. Instead, I have the Garrison tree almost filled.
I didn’t take March Speed because you don’t need March Speed while you’re defending the city. I took 28 talent points to the Attack path to get the Effortless and the Armored Joints
He does very well as a free to play garrison commander.
Hybrid Talent Tree
Commanders Paring
Eulji is not really made for PvE.
You can actually pair him with any AoE commander primary for PvE if you want to. He doesn’t really bring a whole lot to the table when it comes to PvE, even in rallies for Forts or anything like that.
Usually, you want to run the rally with Cavalry armies, using high nuking damage Commanders. If you’re just killing neutral units and you want to get the most out of your action points, you want to use a leadership commander along with a healer or dual AoE commander.
- Richard or Charles: They make great primaries to Eulji because they have the Infantry and the Defense talent trees. Those are the best that you can have talent tree wise for the Infantry army on the battlefield. You can use Eulji as the primary but I really prefer the Defense tree over the Attack tree as it gives you more tank, which is the best thing Infantry troops need to have.
- Scipio, Sun Tzu and even Osman would give you really nice work because he’s got nuke as well. He’s got an expansion to your troops. Boudica is very good as well because she’s got nuke, troop damage buffs and it all kind of synergies. They are 4 great free to play versions for Eulji!
I personally would prefer Sun Tzu over Boudicca and Osman. With Sun Tzu I would use Sun Tzu as the primary because he has the Infantry and the Skill tree, which can enhance Eulji’s nuke
If you have mixed troops, Boudica and Osman are better. I would actually use them as primary commander in this case. Reason being again they both have the skill talent path and you want both to have that skill talent path to enhance all the nukes coming from both Commanders.
